The Hawaiian-themed event brought in advertising leaders from across Orange County’s creative and marketing communities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This year, <strong>Gigasavvy racked up a total of 30 awards</strong> for outstanding work across a broad range of clients. Here is some of the 2018 work that earned our team accolades.</span></p>
<h2>Wahoo’s Fish Taco</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Question: What happens when you take three brothers bound for law school and introduce SoCal’s surf culture? Answer: The best tacos in Southern California and beyond!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To celebrate <a href="https://www.wahoos.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wahoo’s Fish Taco’s</a> 30th anniversary, Gigasavvy created a fully integrated campaign that borrowed from the high-impact aesthetics of &#8217;80s and &#8217;90s surf and skate culture. We designed a series of stickers that reimagine the Wahoo’s logo, and play off the energy and ambiance of the in-store experience. The campaign included print and digital assets, <a href="https://vimeo.com/278056663" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a mini-doc about the brand’s founding</a>, and an engaging social media campaign (even pro skater Tony Hawk joined in!).</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As one of the design team’s proudest achievements last year, the Gigasavvy team helped launch the online presence of <a href="https://virginorbit.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virgin Orbit</a>, Richard Branson’s venture in the small satellite industry. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy helped Virgin Orbit deliver on its mission to “Boost Imagination” by creating a dynamic and visually stunning design that incorporates subtle animation and hand-drawn illustrations. Design, development, strategy and client collaborated on a creation that succinctly explains the offering (“We make rocket science look easy!”) and flirts with the playful and provocative Virgin brand.</span></p>

For client Cremo Company, Gigasavvy won a Gold Addy Award for our sleek, ecommerce-focused web design. The new web design took advantage of Cremo’s recent rebrand and clean new packaging, repositioning the CPG company as a high-end, high-quality, “barber-grade” product.</span></strong></p>

<p><strong><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy won awards for client West Coast University (WCU) with a show-stopping integrated campaign that celebrates the heroism of nurses. The powerful photography and emotionally-charged commercials of the <a href="https://www.gigasavvy.com/work/west-coast-university/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“We are Nurses” campaign</a> subtly communicate the benefits of a WCU nursing degree, while drawing audiences in through a powerful rallying cry that unites nurses and healthcare professionals through a common vision and purpose.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In addition to the comprehensive “We Are Nurses” campaign, West Coast University was also recognized for the <a href="https://vimeo.com/255646555" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Not for the Weak”</a> commercial spots.</span></p>

<h2>American Career College</h2>
<p>Following on the heels of last year&#8217;s Addy&#8217;s wins, American Career College (ACC) collected an accolade for the broadcast commercial, &#8220;In A Single Moment.&#8221; The spot shows the life-changing impact &#8211; and life-saving potential &#8211; of a nursing degree. The powerful narrative continues our strategic use of storytelling to help draw potential students into the ACC brand.</p>

<h2>Toshiba</h2>
<p><strong><span style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://www.gigasavvy.com/work/toshiba/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Six years into our agency+client partnership</a>, Gigasavvy produced some of our favorite work to date for client, Toshiba, and the launch of their new Canvio line of hard drive products. In recent years, Toshiba had focused on the business-to-business (B2B) market, but its newest products had a distinct consumer and business-to-professional (B2P) bent. Gigasavvy produced a 60s hero spot on location in Utah that incorporated sweeping landscape views and the adventurous life of a travelling photographer to bring Canvio to life in an aspirational way.</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As a global provider of corporate housing solutions, <a href="https://www.oakwood.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Oakwood</a> was ready for a fresh approach to its promotional strategy. Looking to mitigate seasonal vacancies, they turned to Gigasavvy for an eye-catching campaign to draw in new audiences, without alienating their target demographic of travelling professionals.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The end result &#8211; the “Like a Boss” campaign that personified the Oakwood customer as a business professional in charge of their own travel destinations &#8211; earned over a 1000% ROI and contributed to an outstanding client/agency partnership. Last year, the campaign won the Most Creative Marketing Award from industry organization, CHPA (Corporate Housing Providers Association).</span></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Did you know the concept of a marketing agency has existed since the early 1700s? Obviously, a lot has changed over the last 300+ years, but that’s what keeps things exciting and challenging. Those changes are happening faster than they ever have before, too. Because of rapidly emerging technologies, how we consume media, and a number of other factors, it is predicted that the next five years will result in more changes to the advertising industry than the last fifty. And we say “bring it!”</p>
<p>Our industry never sleeps. Agency life requires marketers to constantly be upping their game to stay in tune with new technology and trends. It is the same for agencies themselves. Agency leaders have to learn and be willing to change in order to help their organizations grow. In the past few years, we’ve seen large companies fold or transform and move away from old models. Agencies, especially independently owned agencies, need to adapt in order to be successful in this modern landscape and Gigasavvy is no different.</p>
<p>With that in mind, we have some pretty big news to share, which you may have seen recently on the cover of the Orange County Business Journal. Newport Beach-based agency Sunday Brunch has joined forces with Gigasavvy.</p>
<h2>The Creative Community</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rachel and I met at a co-hosted AAF/</span><a href="https://www.thinkla.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ThinkLA</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> event where Rachel was speaking. They quickly bonded over our shared values and commitment to elevating the OC creative community. Several napkin doodles and whiteboard sessions later, they architected the beginnings of a new type of agency.</span></p>
<h2>A Changing Business Model for a Diverse Community</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Orange County is home to a varied business community, ranging from international corporations to smaller, more locally-known businesses. While some advertising agencies focus on one type or the other, we asked “why not both?” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After joining forces, Gigasavvy now has two in-house divisions and is able to service both large and small businesses. Without giving away all the “secret sauce,” we’re pleased to share that all-star agency-level support is accessible to clients who would historically have hired freelancers. By having a client roster made up of both large and small companies, Gigasavvy is able to support all sizes of clientele at scale and be our own referral network. We think this new model begins to innovate an industry that is long overdue for it. We’re very proud to focus on  partnering with </span><a href="https://www.gigasavvy.com/work/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">brands we feel passionate about</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> as opposed to only ones with big pocket books.</span></p>

<h2>Taking Steps Towards a Long-term Vision</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We love Orange County. We want to work with Orange County businesses, so we can all grow and support the economy in the place we love. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’ve got big goals here. This has been a first step in a master plan for the “New Agency,” with plans to roll out more over the next few years. We want to make our home a destination market for advertising, like Los Angeles or New York, but with a signature that is unmistakably, “Made in Orange County.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy has always set out with a goal to create, change, and impact culture while remaining independent. As we continue to innovate the agency model with growing divisions and multiple revenue streams, we’ll be in a strong position to do so as a foundational cornerstone to business in Orange County. Watch this space; big things are coming.</span></p>

This annual event is </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">kind of a big deal</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and is most comparable to the advertising version of the Academy Awards.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Orange County chapter’s awards gala was held on Thursday, March 22nd at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. The 2018 Addy Awards were truly a night to remember. “Gigasavvy would like to congratulate </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">all </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">of the Orange County award winners,” said Gigasavvy President, Kyle Johnston. “We are honored to be members of a community that continues to showcase Orange County as a hotspot for creativity and innovation in our industry.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For Gigasavvy, last night was truly a night worth celebrating. We’re especially proud to announce several new additions to the Gigasavvy trophy case, with 36 Addy Awards total across Gold, Silver, and Bronze for our work with 14 different clients. Let’s take a closer look at the winning work that will advance to the American Advertising Federation National Competition.</span></p>
<p><b>The Flame Broiler</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Flame Broiler came to Gigasavvy looking to ditch the association with their brand and “Asian rice bowls” and truly hone in on the essence of their original vision: simple, healthy food that promotes a well-balanced lifestyle. We went to work on a complete rebrand including everything from the logo and tagline, to menu boards and store signage, earning a Silver Addy Award for our efforts with Brand Identity and Bronze Addy Awards for their new logo and menu designs. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To get the word out about the new Flame Broiler and shout their vision from the literal rooftops, Gigasavvy also launched </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Healthy Is</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, a cross-channel campaign earning Bronze Addy Awards for the social media campaign and integrated campaign as a whole. A final Bronze Addy was awarded for the :30 </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Healthy Is</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> TV spot. So what is healthy? Healthy is…</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whether you’re a health nut or just love a smoothie every once in a while, chances are if you’re from SoCal, you’ve ventured into a Nékter Juice Bar at least once. Nékter came to Gigasavvy for help with the launch of their new healthier indulgent treat, Skoop. Their mantra is about making healthy choices for a happier life, and what could be happier than a dessert you don’t have to feel bad about enjoying? Gigasavvy created a comprehensive digital campaign to spread the Skoop love all throughout Southern California and was awarded a Gold Addy Award for the campaign as a whole. We captured the essence of Skoop with the centerpiece of the campaign, the Silver Addy Award-winning Skoop video:</span></p>

With help from us, Nékter’s free Skoop launch night was a SoCal sensation, with multiple locations each giving out over 600 free Skoops. In addition to the Gold and Silver awards, Gigasavvy also earned Bronze awards for a Skoop microsite, in-store counter card, and email designs for this campaign.</span></p>
<p><b>Orchid Essentials</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">After over a year of research and development, Orchid Essentials launched in summer of 2017 with one main goal: to create the highest standards in the cannabis industry by creating quality, safe products for new and experienced users alike. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy has played a large role in the development and marketing of the Orchid Essentials brand, earning Gold Addys for both Brand Identity and the Orchid Essentials website. One of the first things many people notice about the Orchid Essentials product line is the striking packaging and logo, also designed by Gigasavvy and winners of Silver Addy awards. In addition to the Gold and Silver awards, Gigasavvy also earned Bronze awards for Orchid Essentials’ billboard and email design. We are thrilled to see this work recognized in such an exciting new market.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy’s television spot for American Career College delivers a simple message: “dare to dream bigger.” With a message that has the potential to come across as cheesy, Gigasavvy created a heartfelt, inspirational piece sure to hit home for anyone with big dreams. This spot earned a Gold Addy for the original song, and a Bronze award for cinematography (and special shout-out to Mother Nature for that perfectly timed rain). Caution, you may want to have a tissue on hand before watching.</span></p>

Gigasavvy created a website that beautifully showcases their delicious burgers, shakes, and fries with mouth-watering photography, earning Bronze Addy awards for both. Bruxie was looking to make a big splash with a new brand identity and assets to match. We created a Bronze Addy-winning website as fun and funky as the notion of a chicken and waffle sandwich itself, along with a simplified, marketing-focused email design and plenty of drool-worthy social media content.</span></p>

Each year the American Advertising Federation recognizes achievements in advertising across multiple categories including printed materials, event/experiential marketing, film, photography, web design &amp; development, social media, and copywriting.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Each chapter awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes. The Orange County Addy awards took place Wednesday, March 23rd at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. The Gigasavvy team arrived in full force, the largest (and likely the loudest) agency presence at the event. </span></p>

<h2><b>Gigasavvy Awarded Four Gold Addy Awards for 2016</b></h2>

Some of their best work yet was delivered to an equally innovative and unique clientele. The team’s hard work was recognized and rewarded by the AAF OC judges, who gave Gigasavvy four Gold Awards. Winning four Gold Awards gives Gigasavvy the distinct honor of receiving the most Gold Awards of any agency in the AAF OC Addy Awards.</span></p>

Also falling under the category of “sites that will make you want to buy everything,” is </span><a href="http://www.ullushop.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ullu</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Gigasavvy won a gold Addy for the product selection utility navigation. </span></p>
<h2><b>Four Silver Addy Awards Up the Gigasavvy Medal Count</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Along with the outstanding win of four Gold Addy Awards, the Gigasavvy team received an additional four Silver Addy Awards. Shining in the spotlight (pun completely intended) once again, the </span><a href="http://www.lumecube.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">LumeCube</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> site won silver honors for its mobile responsiveness (go ahead, bring it up on your phone right now). </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy’s work on the </span><a href="https://dita.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">DITA Eyewear</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> website won </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">two </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">silver awards for the overall website and for its user experience. When telling the story of a high fashion brand, one must be bold. The Gigasavvy team created a site as eye-catching and evocative as DITA’s range, perfectly capturing their unique aesthetic. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The fourth silver honor was awarded for a project particularly close to our hearts: the Gigasavvy re-brand. We’re very proud of our new look and were especially thrilled to be recognized by our peers for the effort that went into the new brand.</span></p>

<h2><b>But Wait, There’s More–Gigasavvy Wins 9 Bronze Addy Awards</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bringing the tally of awards won to a whopping seventeen, the Gigasavvy team also received an additional nine Bronze Addy Awards. We’re going to need a bigger shelf.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Three websites received overall Bronze honors. Sugarfina and Ullu received bronze awards in addition to their other winnings, and a third bronze was awarded for our work on the </span><a href="https://kbs-cmg.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">KBS Capital Markets Group</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> website.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Two of Gigasavvy’s social media clients received a pair of Bronze honors each. Cat treat brand </span><a href="http://www.facebook.com/Delightibles" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Delightibles</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (part of the True Science family of brands) received Bronze honors for their ongoing Facebook campaign, as well as the </span><a href="http://www.delightibles.com/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Delightibles blog</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Cat lovers, you’re going to want to check those out ASAP. We also received awards for </span><a href="http://www.facebook.com/JohnnyRockets" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Johnny Rockets</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’ ongoing Facebook campaign, and for additional banner ads for promotional menu items. Also for banner advertising, the Gigasavvy team received a Bronze award for the LumeCube takeover of the Transworld website, which generated an impressive 595% more traffic and 172% more revenue than the rest of that month</span> <span style="font-weight: 400;">to the newly launched LumeCube website. </span></p>

We’ve established ourselves as bigtime foodies and make no apologies for the drool covered keyboards we may or may not have caused with our albums of tasty eats on Facebook. With our passions for marketing, Orange County, and food our latest new program, The Gigasavvy Social Club, just came naturally. &nbsp;</span></p>
<h2><b>What Is The Gigasavvy Social Club?</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Gigasavvy Social Club is an elite group of hand-picked social media influencers. Some of them are bloggers covering subjects such as family, lifestyle, and yes, food. Others are people who have large followings on platforms such as Twitter or Instagram. What these individuals all have in common is a large amount of local influence here in Southern California. What Gigasavvy has created is a way to connect these influencers with Orange County restaurants in a mutually beneficial program that results in full bellies and great exposure. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gigasavvy partners with these restaurants to host influencer events. We invite members of our Social Club to the event to try out some of the culinary masterpieces The O.C. has to offer. They in turn take to Twitter, Instagram, Periscope, and their blogs to get the word out about the delicious things they have experienced, and what they have learned about these local gems. So far, the events have created quite a buzz.</span></p>

<h2><b>The Gigasavvy Social Club Generates Huge Buzz at Savannah Chop House with #Gigasavvy</b></h2>

The Savannah Chop House&nbsp;Gigasavvy Social Club event took place in late August. Gigasavvy took over the patio at Savannah Chop House in Laguna Niguel&nbsp;with a group of 80 influencers and guests to try the new menu and meet the hot new chef, Chris Tzorin. Everyone’s thumbs flew furiously as they couldn’t wait to capture dish after glorious dish.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Talk about food porn. Instagram followers were treated to a combined 205 photos from 48 contributors, reaching over 74,000 people. The food photos received over 330,000 impressions. After a stomach-stuffing evening of incredible food, 241 contributors tweeted over 700 times. These tweets reached over 600,000 people and received over 3.4 million impressions. A major highlight of the evening was #Gigasavvy trending for the Los Angeles area during the event. When the night was over, we couldn’t wait to do it again.</span></p>

<h2><b>Small Restaurant Maro Wood Grill Gets Big Exposure</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the Gigasavvy Social Club event in mid-September, we partnered with Maro Wood Grill in Laguna Beach. The intimate beachside setting allowed for a total of 25 influencers to enjoy delicious all-organic Argentinian delicacies on the candlelit patio. Once again, everyone couldn’t get enough of sharing the beautifully presented 9-course tasting menu.<a href="https://www.gigasavvy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_1162-1.jpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-2989 alignright" src="https://www.gigasavvy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/IMG_1162-1.jpg" alt="maro wood sangria drink" width="405" height="304"></a><br />

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The small group of influencers put up some pretty big numbers on social media that night. A total of 275 tweets were generated by 56 contributors. The tweets reached well over 500,000&nbsp;people and received over 1.4 million impressions. The Gigasavvy Social Club also&nbsp;shared 131 photos on Instagram, each one looking more delicious than the last. The photos reached 37,000 plus people and received over 200,000 impressions. The food was so good that some of us nearly had to be rolled home.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In addition to sharing their pictures, remarks, and OMGs about the food and ambiance of each restaurant, influencers post reviews on social media and their blogs, further expanding the exposure in addition to providing valuable feedback. Through these events we have been able to accomplish exactly what we set out to do: connect influential people with special places in Orange County for fantastic exposure and great food. We can’t wait to continue the program in 2016.</span></p>

Gigasavvy partnered with Johnny Rockets this year to undertake various social media marketing initiatives that would grow their audience and customer base and take the beloved brand to new heights with how they connect to fans. It is safe to say the project has let our team flex their creative muscle with different (and often too-fun-to-even-call-it-work) ideas.</p>

<p>Custom Comfort Mattress, the family-owned luxury mattress company, had built a loyal following of well-rested customers who purchased from their line of hand-crafted beds. After 30+ years and many store locations throughout Orange County and Los Angeles, the brand needed a refresh that would match the quality of their products. Gigasavvy partnered with the Custom Comfort Mattress team to design and execute a full brand redesign that included a new website, media, and ongoing digital marketing.</p>

<p>Ranked in the top 10 for small to medium sized businesses, Gigasavvy joins the ranks largely due to it’s flourishing business, exceptional culture, and investment into the growth and wellbeing of all team members.</p>
<p>Gigasavvy’s core business has seen a steady increase in profits each year, but this past &nbsp;one was a real milestone for the company. In the last year, the staff grew over 40%, which included a strategic acquisition of two production companies to <a href="http://www.gigasavvy.com/gigasavvy-expands-with-in-house-film-and-photography-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expand into photo and video</a>. The net income has also increased almost 160% since 2013 and this year is trending to be the most successful year to date.</p>
